We are a community visioning group.  

Mission Statement:

Northern Lehigh Future Focus is a coalition of groups and individuals committed to improving the quality of life in the Northern Lehigh area. This is accomplished by preserving and promoting our region’s unique architecture, heritage, natural resources, business environment and trail system through community involvement.

Northern Lehigh Future Focus Steering Committee meets the second Wednesday of every month at 6:30 pm at Slatington Borough Hall, located at 125 S. Walnut Street in Slatington.

Two main committees comprise Future Focus:

Downtown Revitalization & Economic Development Task Force
Our mission is to create a thriving, viable business community.  This task force meets the Tuesday before the Steering Committee meeting every month at 6:00 P.M. Location of meetings changes monthly and is announced at the Future Focus meeting or you may call Dan @ (610) 760-0685.

Historic Preservation & Tourism Task Force
Our mission is to preserve pictures, places and stories of the Northern Lehigh Region.  This task force meetings are held at 7:00 P.M. the first Monday of every month at the home of the Kaul's 608 Washington Street in Walnutport.'

The sports book project is currently on hiatus.  Several members of the book committee could not continue serving due to other commitments and time contraints.  We would still like to publish this seemingly popular and worthwhile book.  However, we need more help from the public, from those interested in doing writing and research, as this book is large undertaking.  If you are interested in helping please contact Robert @ (610) 767-7626.
 
Please look for the Northern Lehigh Information booth at the Lehigh County Bi-Centennial celebration at Ag Hall on Saturday March 10, 2012.  For more details check the Northern Lehigh Future Focus Facebook page and lehighcounty.org closer to the date of the event. 
 
Winter 2011:

Northern Lehigh Future Focus will be publishing a photo-book on Slatington/ Northern Lehigh High School & community sports teams & players later this year. As this is expected to be a large undertaking, Future Focus is asking for the public’s help. They are still seeking old photos or copies of photos, which they can borrow. The book will include photos from the earliest days of organized school and community sports up through the present. Especially of interest are old team and individual photos up through the 1970’s. It is hoped that the finished product will be a comprehensive photo history on our area’s sports teams, and be a great keepsake for all ages.

However, we need the public’s help to ensure a great finished product. Please consider letting future focus borrow your photos to include in the book. The book will be separated by decades, and include the high school sports of football, basketball, baseball, wrestling etc. Star player, exceptional team and legendary coaches’ profiles will also be included, as well as photos and information on the many community baseball teams the area had in the 1930’s and 1940’s. Additional help is needed in research, writing and layout. Persons with these skills, those who are interested in helping in any way with the project, or those who have photos to share are urged to call Robert at (610) 767-7626 or Marilyn at (610) 767-5817.
